5 children dead, 3 missing as flood wreaks havoc in Anambra state

Three children have died of drowning while two others have gone missing in a devastating flood following three days of downpour that wrecked havoc at Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The flood also damaged at least 10 buildings in the area and properties worth over N100 million were lost.

A resident of the area, Mr. Christian Aguchi said yesterday that the two missing kids had not been seen by their parents as their homes were among the buildings that were swept away by the flood, Vanguard reports. 

"The three children drowned in the flood when it flowed into their residences. As we speak, two other children have not been seen by their parents. Even now that the rain has subsided, there are still floods flowing on some streets and one wonders where they are coming from. While urging the state." Mr Aguchi said.

 Man Arrested For Using Engine Oil To Defile 3 Year Old Girl

A 23-year-old man, Christopher Arigidi, last Wednesday, allegedly raped a 3-year-old in Apata, Ese-Odo LGA of Ondo State and youth of the area are accusing the community chairman, Rufus Jagun, of trying to cover it up.

According to reports, Arigidi, who attended a naming ceremony in the community, took the victim to his house and allegedly defiled her, by rubbing engine oil on her private parts to ease penetration.

In a chat with Punchng, one of the youth, Oshodi Ibeji, said: “The suspect and some people were sitting together at the function; all of a sudden, the guy stood up and said he wanted to go and change his cloth at home. .

As he was going, he took the girl along with him; the mother of the victim saw him when he was going. When the mother went back home, she did not see her daughter so she went to Argigidi’s house and found out that the girl had been defiled. .

After discovering what happened, she reported to the youths who went to the man’s house to beat him up. He was later taken to the community chairman. He initially denied it but later confessed that he did it.” .

Ibeji, however, said the youths were not happy with the way the community chairman was handling the case. He noted that Arigidi’s family came to beg the chairman and he had released the suspect to them. .

The victim’s mother, Pouma Ologun, said she wanted justice for her daughter, adding that she wanted the community to deal with Arigidi.

However, the community chairman, Jagun, denied releasing Christopher to his family. He said, “I told some people to lock him up in a room since we don’t have a police station in our community. .

The decision to take him to a police station lies in the hand of the victim’s father because the nearest police station to our community is very far.”

A philanthropist has donated a 4 bedroom flat to a couple who lost their hut to harmattan fire in Cross River state.

According to reports, the old couple lost their hut last year November after their hut and few possessions were razed completely by fire which started as a result of harmattan in Obudu local government area of the state.

The couple, Mr and Mrs Osobu were not home that fateful afternoon when the incident occurred as the village people met them on their way home to break the news of the tragedy to them.

The news of this couple got to a philanthropist, one Mr Koko Dan who sympathized with them and promised to build a house for them.

Mr Koko Dan has since handed the keys to the four bedroom flat to this couple who have never dreamt of owning a brick house.

This is the second house which Mr Koko Dan has built for poor people of the society. Mr and Mrs Ube Osobu are from Ejagbe village Nkirira Central Ward in Utugwang, Obudu LGA of Cross River State.

Mr and Mrs Osobu pledged to serve Mr Koko Dan as servants for the rest of their life but Mr Koko has refused, and went on to pledge to help them start up a business.

How Oyo Cultist Fraudsters Duped German Based Woman 

Some occultic fraudsters based in Oyo state, have been arrested after duping a German based Nigerian woman known as Mary John of N81.7 million in the quest to get rich.

The victim was said to have been elusive to her family members anytime she returns to Nigeria and this prompted her mother and siblings to enlist the help of spiritual medicine man identified as Babatunde Richard, a retired police officer, to reverse it.

According to the spiritualist, the woman’s mother told him that she has a daughter based abroad who is doing very well but that a man and a lady behind her (Mary John), doesn’t want her daughter to have pity on her.

The woman’s mother told him she wants her daughter back. During a session with the spiritualist who was paid about N1.2 million, a call came through that help has been found somewhere else.

The woman’s mother and siblings also facilitated another meeting with a different group of spiritualists who also scammed the woman of various amounts of money.

The second group of spiritualists promised Mary John’s family a thorough spiritual cleansing with the hope of making them wealthy.

According to Mary, she and her family members were given some items to eat after some sacrifices were made as they asked her to deposit various sums of money all in Euros in a pot.

Mary also revealed that one of the fraudsters also slept with her in the quest to double the money they collected from her.

The scammers who revealed that they knew they couldn’t help her, were arrested by the special Intelligence Response Team (IRT), led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari.

Man dies after his girlfriend pushed him during a fight in Lagos

 young lady has been arrested for allegedly pushing her boyfriend out of a window to stop him from searching through her phone.

Adaugona Esu, 21, pushed Wilson Henry out of the window of a storey building in Ajangbadi, Lagos on July 13, 2018. His body hit the fence as he fell before he landed on the septic tank. 

Henry, a Civil Engineering graduate from the University of Benin, had his neck and spinal cord broken in the fall. He died three days later at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH in Ikeja.

Adaugona, a hair stylist was living in a self-contained room with her boyfriend, one Eto, until he travelled outside the country in July 2017. After he travelled, she began dating the deceased, who neighbours said usually spent days with her in the apartment before leaving.

On Friday, July 13, 2018, Henry was at Adaugona's house as usual when neighbours said they heard the usual banters from the lovers’ apartment, which was followed by shouts for help from the suspect. Out of concern, some of the neighbours forced the door open to rescue her.

It was alleged that Roy, one of the male tenants who entered the apartment, assisted Ada to throw Henry out of the window. 

But in an interview with the suspect, she denied pushing Henry out of the window and said he jumped out himself.

Adaugona said:

He came in drunk that night and wanted to collect my phone to search it but I refused. As I was struggling the phone with him, he started beating me and I shouted for help. At a point, I could not shout any more. When the door was forced opened by neigbours who came to my rescue, Henry ran into the bedroom and jumped out of the window. I did not push him. If I did, there would have been cracks on the window. He actually jumped out because he was afraid of Roy.

Couple arrested for kissing during driving lesson in Saudi Arabia 

A couple have reportedly been arrested in Saudi Arabia after they were caught kissing during a driving lesson.

The video posted to Snapchat by the man was captioned ‘teaching her how to drive.’

The couple is now facing being jailed in the ultra-conservative country, following the kiss in the car.

Their arrest comes just a month after Saudi Arabia started allowing women to drive with the first group only receiving their licences in June this year.
